It’s time for a March Minimalist Challenge update! How is your project going??
I started the challenge a few days early in order to be done by moving day and will admit that I did miss my deadline by a bit. I went in to last Saturday with about 47 items left to purge, but it is amazing what popped up as I was unpacking moving boxes – kitchen utensils I hadn’t seen in a year or used in even more, more lotions that could be consolidated, baby clothes with horrible spots that never showed up in the dim light of our last apartment (yikes!). Ultimately, those last 47 items were checked off the list rather quickly in the 48 hours post-move, and we once again went well above and beyond the targeted 496 items in the end.
E is also going strong on her five book challenge. We’ve expanded her collection to two sets of five now that we have an upstairs and a downstairs, but she doesn’t seem to mind one bit that she’s been reduced to just a handful of stories. And my clean-up job at the end of the day is at least 20 books lighter! I can’t argue with that.
Sorting, purging and storing E’s toys, on the other hand, is creating more of an internal conflict for me than the babe…I’ve already tried to keep a tight hold on how many toys come in to our house from the beginning, so can she really need to reduce them even more?!… We’re still working on it, but I promise I’ll have it done by the end of March. Who knew that one could be so hard.
I really do love this process of making my home less cluttered and much more intentional! Hopefully you’re feeling the same sense of determination to finish and satisfaction about the progress you’ve made!
We’ve made it to day 21 with only 286 items to go. This is where it gets real. Good luck – you can do it!!

So proud of you! Thanks for being our inspiration. So far I have purged 234 items. This is truly addictive … in a very healthy sense.

Isn’t it?! Glad you’re having fun with it!
